Encouragement For Your Journey With God

Love Always Perseveres

“4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,it is not easily angered,it keeps no record of wrongs.Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails.”  I Cor. 13:4-8a NIV

God always perseveres in His love and support of you.  He won’t grow weary.  Psalm 121:4-6 NIV says, “He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you, the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sin will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm, he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” That is the same God who watches over you! God will be with you in every situation.  That is perseverance!

You have probably heard the poem entitled Footprints in the Sand. There is some dispute about who wrote it, so I don’t know who to credit – I know I did not write it, but have been touched by it many times.  It reads:

Persevering Footprints

One night I dreamed a dream. As I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to the Lord. After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints. This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it. Lord, you said once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why, when I needed you the most, you would leave me. He answered, my precious child I love you and will never leave you never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

God will always be with you in every circumstance and will not leave you.
